Case Study
Bayelsa is a tropical rain forest area in South West Nigeria. The area was not connected to the national power grid and depended on its own independently generated electricity which used the abundant local gas supply.
Two gas turbines provided the bulk of the power, but these were no longer reliable owing to their ageing control systems. The cost to replace the whole system was prohibitive and component spare parts were no longer available, so an upgrade was out of the question.
The old analogue system was replaced with an integrated digital system to provide the original functionality, together with an enhanced operator interface and remote monitoring facility
Dale worked closely with Heinzmann UK Ltd to integrate the fuel control equipment
Tools and test equipment were shipped to the remote location in one delivery
Bespoke control panels were fitted in the original panels as the control room was a modular unit and could not be removed
No downtime at the plant. While one new control system was being installed and commissioned, the other continued to provide a power supply
Dale trained local operatives on site
Comprehensive service package was delivered
Significant improvement in reliability of power supply
