Next up in our busy events season is Scarborough Science & Engineering Week. Come and join us at Scarborough Spa on 8th - 10th October 2024 and talk to us about careers in STEM.

It’s the longest-running free event in the area. And this October will mark the 15th Science and Engineering Week, designed to inspire the next generation towards skills-based careers.

Organised by the Scarborough Business Ambassadors, the event expects to attract over 3000 students from 40 schools and colleges.

We’ll be among over 30 exhibitors comprising local, regional and national employers and training and education organisations.

Come along and say hello to us at our stand. We’re looking forward to talking to you about routes into an exciting career in engineering.

Here at Dale, we have a long history of engaging with young people and developing programmes to help them access careers in STEM.

Dale Power Solutions Apprenticeship Programme

Just last month, following the success of our previous apprenticeships, we announced the launch of our 2024 Apprenticeship Programme.

Our apprenticeship programme has a strong track record, with many apprentices securing permanent positions in their chosen fields.

Our Lead Engineer for Energy Storage and Renewables, Hannah Magowan, came to us through this programme. Hannah was named Apprentice of the Year at the 2018 Scarborough Business Awards.

Internships and work placements at Dale

At Dale, we offer work placements, student visits and knowledge-sharing initiatives to help support young people and educational establishments. It is important to us to help build partnerships with the education sector to help inspire the next generation of talent and contribute to their studies and professional growth.

We’ve had many university students intern with us for year-long placements. A recent student internship was Zack Dahou, who joined us as part of his Business Studies course at Nottingham Trent University.

During his 12 months with us, Zack worked with the Dale team to learn about a variety of aspects of our business, from technical projects to strategic planning and problem-solving.

Educational engagement initiatives

In addition to our apprenticeship and internship programmes, we also create initiatives to help support local schools.

Our IT administrator, Steve Monkman, and Panel Wire Lead Operator, Andrew Smith, launched a donation programme for laptops and power test equipment.

Recent donations have included:
